About the event
****EVENT CHANGE - ONE TIME ONLY!****
Due to injury (Jenny has sustained a nasty ankle sprain) we have decided to offer our weekend Ultra Skills Workshop as a theory event, at a reduced cost. This is a great opportunity not only to gain essential trail running skills, but also to get expert coaching input on your running. The Ultra Skills Workshop is normally £170; we're offering the entire weekend for £100.
Our sessions for the weekend will include:
how to plan your trail adventures - map reading, route plotting, pace and time estimation, terrain knowledge and compass use.
kit and safety - learn the essentials of hill safety, and, in an interactive session, put together the ideal kit list for your adventures.
training - an introduction to training theory and how to map out and build your own training plan, for any distance from 5k to ultra.
fuelling - how to fuel training and events
mountain weather - understand how weather conditions change in mountainous areas, how to find the best weather data and interpret the forecast, and understand how to adapt your own plans and behaviour to the weather
Q&A - your chance to ask any running questions (none too big, too small or too silly!) in a small, friendly group.
We'll do all of this in a beautiful local venue, accompanied by tea, coffee, pastries and snacks (supplied by us). Just bring some comfy clothes and your packed lunch, and we're all set.
We've slightly shortened the schedule on both days so that we'll aim to finish at around 2.30-3pm - leaving enough time for you to go exploring if you wish. Jenny will be very happy to share route ideas.
What experience do I need?
No experience needed! This is a theory event, so all that's required is curiosity and a desire to learn more about running in the hills.
Is accommodation included?
Our ultra skills workshops are non-residential, giving you the freedom to choose your own accommodation and meals, and to relax with friends and family, or just wind down in the evenings. We are always happy to advise and give suggestions on accommodation and places to eat; just give us a shout!
How do I book?
Simply add your ticket(s) below and click 'checkout' to book your place. On booking you will be emailed full course details including a short kit list. If you have any questions before booking, have a look at our FAQs, or contact us if your question isn't answered.
